Mike Skuja, Principal
Mike Skuja is a conservation leader with more than 25 years of experience helping environmental organizations grow, adapt, and deliver lasting impact. He has led multimillion-dollar nonprofits, guided organizations through periods of strategic transition, and built diverse, high-performing Boards and staff teams aligned around mission, accountability, and results. His work spans ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, policy and advocacy, and strategic grantmaking, with a consistent focus on equity- and rights-based approaches to conservation.
Mike is recognized for his ability to forge trusted, cross-sector partnerships—working with Indigenous Nations, community leaders, funders, government agencies, and academic institutions. His north star always remains translating vision into durable, on-the-ground outcomes. He brings deep experience securing transformative funding from public, and private philanthropic sources and positioning organizations for long-term financial sustainability. His international experience includes extensive field work across Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Caribbean, and the United States. Mike lived outside of the US for 12 years and is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Kiswahili and Portuguese, bringing a globally informed perspective to every engagement. His Dad jokes are appreciated by all, with the exception of his two children.
