"Mike and CICI brought exceptional strategic insight to our work, helping us analyze new angles for our programming and clarify where we could have the greatest long-term impact for communities. CICI's guidance laid important groundwork for broader, landscape-level conservation efforts for lions rooted in rights-based conservation approaches. I highly recommend Mike Skuja not just for near-term success, but for durable equitable conservation outcomes.”
-Stephanie Dolrenry, Co-Founder and Director of Science

Our Mission
The Center for Inclusive Conservation and Innovation (CICI) works with environmental leaders and organizations to design, strengthen, and scale conservation and climate initiatives that deliver lasting benefits for people and nature. Operating at the intersection of community partnership, natural resource governance, and institutional development, we support organizations as they refine programs, funding strategies, and governance models to meet complex social and ecological challenges. Drawing on experience across Indigenous and community-led initiatives, conservation NGOs, philanthropy, and public-interest institutions, CICI helps translate strong values and ideas into operationally sound, fundable, and community-rooted impact—whether launching new efforts, adapting existing programs, or navigating periods of transition.

Our symbol
The redwood tree is a powerful symbol for CICI because it represents strength, longevity, and collective growth. Though redwoods soar higher than any other trees, their roots grow wide and interwoven rather than deep—reminding us that true resilience comes from connection, community, and shared support. They endure for centuries, adapting to change while remaining grounded, reflecting our commitment to long-term impact, integrity, and stewardship.
